用高分辨率的碘化铯(CsI)探测器,测量地层中天然放射的γ射线不同能量的测井方法。地层内泥岩中含有钾(K)、钍(Th),碳酸盐岩和砂岩中,有时含有铀(U),它们放出能量不同的γ射线。地面的能谱仪按能量的不同直接记录K40、 U(Bi214)、Th208和总的γ射线。用本法在碳酸盐岩和砂泥岩地层的裸眼井和套管井中探测泥质含量,比用自然γ测井方法更精确,并有助于判断粘土矿物类型。
