The manganese ores of good quality occur at the bottom of first layer of black rock series of the Datangpo formation of the lower Sinian in the area of northeastern Guizhou, and locate in the manganese-rhodochrosite horizon below.
黔东北地区优质锰矿产于早震旦世大塘坡早期黑色岩系底部 ,位于普通锰矿———菱锰矿层的下部。

| 锰质岩 manganese rock 一种富含锰矿物的沉积岩。主要由软锰矿、水锰矿、硬锰矿、菱锰矿等含锰矿物和粉砂、粘土等混入物组成。一般呈黑色或黑褐色。质地有软有硬，软的呈土状，染手；硬的多具鲕状、肾状、豆状结构。按成分可分4大类：① 锰质粘土岩。如黑色页岩、粉砂质页岩、硅质页岩等。②锰质碎屑岩。如锰质砂岩、锰质粉砂岩等。③锰质碳酸岩。如锰质灰岩等。④锰质硅质岩。锰的金属含量达工业品位，且具一定储量规模 ，则构成锰矿床 。 中国锰矿床主要形成于震旦纪、奥陶纪、泥盆纪和石炭-二叠纪，如震旦纪的湘潭式锰矿 、泥盆纪的桂平式锰矿和石炭纪的乐平式锰矿等。 |
