美国近代出版商。1848年9月4日生于马萨诸塞州塞勒姆。1868年毕业于纽约市立学院。曾任《纽约晚邮报》文学编辑。1872年协助F.利波特创办美国第 1份书业期刊《出版商周刊》。1875年任该刊专职编辑。1878年买下该刊，自任发行人。以卓有成效的工作使该刊在提倡出版社之间的合作、维护版权、促成版权法在议会通过等方面充当美国出版业的喉舌。利波特去世后，鲍克出任利波特公司总裁。1911年将公司更名为鲍克出版公司，出版了许多出版业和图书馆业权威性工具书刊，为提高美国出版业与图书馆业专业水平作出贡献。他曾三次婉言谢绝担任美国图书馆协会主席。1933年11月12日在斯托布拉瓦去世。
