天柱峰又称为皖伯尖,万山尖。《道书》称为司命真人发祥所都,海拔1488.4米,孤立晴宵,顶天立地,石骨嶙峋,峭立如柱。五指、莲花、天池、含珠、飞来、月华诸峰拱卫左右,奇松、怪石、云海、佛光、各领风骚。李白《江上望皖公山》诗云:“奇峰出奇云,秀水含秀气。”白居易《题天柱峰》诗云:“天柱一峰擎日月,洞门千仞锁云雷。”
