A series of new isoxazolines were prepared by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between different mono-substituted styrenes and new 1,3-dipolar compounds which were synthesized by the reaction of N-methylhydroxylamine sulfate with aromatic carbonyl compounds.

Four 3,5-disubstituted isoxazoline derivatives(4a~4d)in good yields(84%~95%)were synthesized by 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of soluble poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)-supported acrylate with nitrile oxides generated in situ from aldoximes,and then releasing from the PEG using NaOCH3-CH3OH.

An efficient liquid-phase synthesis of 2,5-disubstituted isoxazolines through a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition is described.
