黄河故道鸟类湿地国家自然保护区
位于河南省卫辉、延津两县（市）接壤的大沙河地段和封丘县境内的黄河滩涂和背河洼地，面积24780公顷，1988年经河南省人民政府批准建立，1996年晋升为国家级，主要保护对象为天鹅、鹤类等珍禽及内陆湿地生态系统。
本区地处我国暖温带向亚热带的过渡区，其地貌特征为黄河改道后历史遗留下来的背河洼地、槽形洼地和广阔的黄河滩涂，水源来自汛期的地表径流、引黄退水和地下水，是我国中原人口稠密地区难得的一块天然湿地。区内生态环境多样，物种丰富，动植物区系成分复杂，是南北方动植物类群交汇处及通道，也是鸟类南北迁徙的主要途径和华北水禽越冬的北界。目前已发现鸟类有130余种，其中国家重点保护的珍稀鸟类有白鹳、白头鹤、白鹤、大鸨、天鹅、灰鹤等39种，列入中日、中澳候鸟保护协定的候鸟有80余种，每年在此路过、停留、栖息、越冬和繁殖的候鸟达数万只，这在我国内陆平原人口稠密地区实属罕见，因此，更显示出保护的必要性和紧迫性。
