【来源】
为禾本科植物芨芨草的茎、花及种子。
【植物形态】
芨芨草 多年生草本，高0.5～2.5米。根粗而坚韧，外被沙套，径达3毫米。茎直立，粗壮，坚硬，丛生，基部宿存黄褐色枯萎叶鞘。叶线形，长30～60厘米，纵向卷折，质坚韧，上面脉纹凸起，微粗糙，下面具凹沟多条，光滑无毛；叶鞘无毛，质坚韧，边缘膜质；叶舌质较硬，渐尖，长5～7毫米(茎上部达1厘米)。圆锥花序，长40～60厘米，疏散呈塔形，集生于秆之一侧。分枝细弱；小穗长4.5～6.5毫米，灰绿色或带紫色或变草黄色；颖膜质，披针形兼椭圆形，第1颖短于第2颗；芒直立或微曲，但不扭转而易断落。花果期夏秋季。 生于微碱性草滩上、干河床、湖边、河边、丘间低地。分布吉林、辽宁、内蒙古、陕西、宁夏、甘肃、青海、新疆等地。
【采集】
茎全年可采；夏、秋采花及种子，硒干。
【性味】
《内蒙古中草药》："味甘淡，性平。"
【功用主治】
治尿路感染，尿闭。 ①《内蒙古中草药》："利尿。治尿路感染，尿闭。" ②《中国沙漠地区药用植物》："茎：利尿清热。花：止血。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，茎、花0.5～1两。种子3～5钱。
【选方】
①治尿道炎：芨芨草茎基部一两，水煎服。(《中国沙漠地区药用植物》) ②治尿闭：芨芨草子三钱，水煎服。(《内蒙古中草药》) ③治初生儿小便不利：芨芨花、车前草、小麦穗秆(去麦粒)各一钱，水煎服。(《中国沙漠地区药用植物》) ④止血：芨芨花五钱至一两，水煎服。(《中国沙漠地区药用植物》)
