为兰科植物铁皮石斛Dendrobium officinale Kimura et Migo的茎。
【植物形态】
茎圆柱形，高15～50cm，粗4～8mm。叶鞘带肉质，矩圆状披针形，长3～6.5cm，宽0.8～2cm，顶端略钩。总状花序生于具叶或无叶茎的中部，有花2～4朵；花淡黄绿色，稍有香气；萼片长1.2～2cm；花瓣短于萼片，唇瓣卵状披针形，长1.3～1.6cm宽7～9mm，先端渐尖或短渐尖，近上部中间有圆形紫色斑块，近下部中间有黄色胼胝体。花期4～6月。 生于树上和岩石上。多加工成枫斗。
【性状】
茎圆柱形，长15～50cm，直径1.5～3mm，节间长1～4cm。表面黄色，基部稍有光泽，具纵纹，节上有花序柄痕及残存叶鞘；叶鞘短于节间，常与节间上部留下环状间隙，褐色，鞘口张开。质硬而脆，易折断，断面纤维状。鲜品茎直径3～6mm，表面黄绿色或黑绿色，叶鞘灰白色。气微，嚼之有粘性。

同金钗石斛。
