      时滞系统在初始扰动下的运动能回复或趋近平衡状态的性能。包含时滞环节的系统称为时滞系统。时滞环节的特点是它的输出变量相对于输入变量存在时间上的滞后τ。与输气管道中压力波传播过程相应的环节是时滞环节的一个例子。时滞τ的大小对时滞系统的稳定性有极大影响,常可采用临界时滞τc来表征系统的允许时滞范围,它是改变时滞τ使系统由渐近稳定变为不稳定时的一个临界值。研究时滞系统稳定性常用的方?ㄓ衅德视蚍椒?(见米哈伊洛夫稳定判据、奈奎斯特稳定判据)和李雅普诺夫函数法(见李雅普诺夫稳定性理论),它们在应用上和判断无时滞系统的稳定性时没有区别。对于多时滞系统和变时滞系统,稳定性的分析过程要更为复杂。
