The northern offshoot of Mt.
北麓天山是天山山系中最长的一个支脉,也是天山山系中动植物种类最丰富、分布类型最为复杂的区域。

| 大青山 位于中国内蒙古自治区土默川平原以北。又称大斤山。属阴山山脉中段。东西走向。长约 150多千米。同名主峰位于土默特右旗以北，海拔2338米。南侧断层陷落，巍峨陡峻，濒临黄河和大黑河谷地。呼和浩特市位于山脚下。北侧倾斜和缓，逐渐过渡到乌兰察布高原。吴公坝（古白道谷）和昆都仑沟（一称鄂博口）为南北交通孔道。
