鳞翅目的 1科。Cu2脉由中室下角处发出，近似卷蛾的小蛾类昆虫。本科昆虫通称蛀果蛾。主要分布在中国北方和西北。相当一部分种类分布在大洋洲和夏威夷。中、小型。头顶有粗毛、单眼退化，喙发达（见图）。雄蛾的下唇须向上举，雌蛾的向前伸。前翅翅脉发达,彼此分离；Cu2脉出自中室下角或接近下角,是和卷蛾科的主要区别，R5脉止于外缘。后翅的Rs脉道向翅顶，中脉(M)只有1～2分枝而不是3分枝，这是与细卷蛾科的主要区别。幼虫期为害果实、嫩梢或茎。中国的重要种类有为害苹果、梨、枣、桃的桃蛀果蛾，俗名桃小食心虫。陕西发现有一种类为害山茱萸，也有的种类幼虫钻蛀桉树。
