埃雷赫透神庙位于雅典卫城山北沿的正中,巴特农神庙的对面。它是公元前5世纪培里克里斯制订的重建卫城计划中最后完成的一座重要建筑。

神庙是为献给智慧女神雅典娜、海神波塞东、雅典王埃雷赫透斯而建的。神庙东区是传统的6柱门面,向南采取虚厅形式。这里有6根大理石雕刻而成的少女像柱,举世驰名。她们长裙束胸,轻盈飘忽,头顶千斤,亭亭玉立。庙中的雅典娜雕像直立戎装,是所有雅典娜雕像所依据的形象。像前有金灯,一年只需加油一次,另有棕榈树形的烟囱和木雕神像。神庙建筑历经沧桑,现在只能从6根女神像依稀想象当年的繁华了。
