Cenozoic geography is an important branch of physical geography, the aim of Cenozoic geography is to reconstruct the geographical environment change processes during Cenozoic Era, which help us to understand thedevelopment and evolution process of the physical geographical environment, so as to forecast its evolution trendin the future.

We divide the development of French geography into three stages: the specialized stage, the New geography and the modern stage, and perform comments in briefly.

The initial forming time of Cenozoic basins in western Yunnan is at 14 Ma or so,it was coupling in the later period tectonic activity time of Lushui-Ruili arc dextral strike-slip fault belt in the eastern fringe and Nabang dextral strike-slip fault belt in the western fringe of Tengchong microplate.

There contained abundant uranium resources in the Cenozoic basins, western Yunnan,where 8 small-sized or medium-sized sandstone-type uranium deposits have been prospected,and which is one of the important belts of sandstone-type uranium mineralization in China.

In the paper, we research mainly division of sub tectonic unit and the geological significance in Bohai offshore area, indicating the difference of petrology condition of different positive sub tectonic unit in Cenozoic basin and the necessary of right understanding and accurite division.
