For the explanation of meanings of Chinese characters by their structures,the ways can be divided into four types--general explanation to the whole forms,analytic explanation to parts of the forms,concrete illustration description,pun.

From character shape and character meaning, we compare 3500 Chinese characters in common use and 1945 Japanese Chinese characters in common use, we could find out their similarities and differences.
