| 电子感应加速器 betatron 利用交变磁场感生的涡旋电场加速电子的装置。1932年J.斯莱皮恩提出构想，1940年制成把电子加速到 2.3兆电子伏特（MeV）的电子感应加速器，经不断改进，到 1945年建成100MeV的电子感应加速器。其主要结构是在磁极间放置环形真空室。当交变励磁电流变化时，磁场发生变化，在其周围产生涡旋电场，此涡旋电场可用来加速电子，环形室中的电子除了受到电场的加速之外，还受到磁场的洛伦兹力而作圆周运动。为了使电子得到稳定加速，要求电子轨道处的磁场为轨道内部平均磁场的一半。这样在励磁电流变化的1／4周期内，电子在环形室内绕行百万圈以上，能量可达100MeV。电子感应加速器属于低能加速器，它主要的应用是使高能电子轰击金属靶上，通过轫致辐射产生γ射线，用于工业γ射线探伤和射线治疗癌症。 |
