Utilizing the International Reference Ionosphere model (IRI-2001) as background ionosphere to obtain “equivalent sunspot”, and reconstructing regional ionosphere by means of the traditional Kriging technique, an improved Kriging technique for reconstructing the critical frequency of the F2 layer (foF2) is proposed in this paper.
