According to the theory of increasing pole,the economical development of these areas has to choose more related industries with comparative advantages as the growth spots,which will impetus economy into comprehensive development through their extreme effect and diffused effect.

Before the gap enlarging among the areas in the western region, and on the basis of the theory and model of development pole, this paper studies the way of optimizing of industry structure of Chongqing in order to accelerate the rate of progress of the development of the western region, and to advance its economy power during it.

Based on the basic conceptions such as development pole, growth axis, etc, the thesis brings forward a Regional Center Orientation Model, which is called Axis Energy Maximization Model, and then, the thesis makes the analysis of growth pole on the sixteen important cities in the region.

To make Chongqing the important development pole in western regions,it is of great practical significance to study the DP theory and apply it in Chongqing s practice.
