A specimen collected on Hainan Island and belonging to the pitviper genus \%Ovophis \% Burger in Hoge \%et\% Romano Hoge,1981 was fortuitously discovered in the collections of the Shanghai Museum of Natural History.
作者有幸在上海自然历史博物馆收藏中发现采于海南岛的山烙铁头蛇属 (OvophisBurgerinHogeandRomanoHoge ,1981)标本 1号。

蛇头疔 蛇头疔 病名。指疔疮生于手指尖，形似蛇头者。出《证治准绳·外科》卷二。指疔之一。亦名蛇眼疔、天蛇毒、调疽。《医宗金鉴》卷六十八有：“蛇头疔发自指端筋骨，根深毒重，天蛇毒发自指端肌肉，其毒稍轻。”相当于脓性指头炎。证治可参见指疔条。
