The present paper deals with the Late Triassic—Early Jurassic sporopollen assemblages from the Haojiagou Formation and the base of the Badaowan Formation in the southern margin of the Junggar Basin, Xinjiang.

The Haojiagou section,located in the southern margin of the Junggar Basin,is of great significance in studying the Triassic-Jurassic Boundary events.

The fossils from siliceous stone in sandy slate from Jiachang channel indicate that the age of the Guanjiagou Formation is Late Carboniferous or Late Permian, while results of 40Ar/39Ar thermochronology of the granitic and volcanic gravels from the Guanjiagou Formation suggest that the age of the Guanjiagou Formation is Late Triassic.
