克拉通 craton 地壳上长期稳定的构造单元 。W.H.施蒂勒1936年提出,作为与造山带相对应的地壳稳定地区。克拉通一词源于希腊语Kratos ,意为强度。施蒂勒当时还划分出高克拉通和低克拉通,分别对应于大陆和大洋盆地,由于后来已证实大洋是活动的年轻地壳(见海底扩张说),今克拉通一词仅用于大陆地区,是地盾和地台的统称。 |
