| 统一场论 unified field theories 从相互作用是由场（或场的量子）来传递的观念出发，统一地描述和揭示基本相互作用的共同本质和内在联系的物理理论。寻求对于物理现象的统一说明是物理学的一贯追求。I.牛顿将天上天体的运动和地上物体的运动用万有引力和运动定律作为基础的牛顿力学统一起来，J.C.麦克斯韦将电与磁和光学用电磁场理论统一起来，A.爱因斯坦将电磁学和力学用狭义相对论统一起来，都是统一理论的光辉典范。 爱因斯坦早在创立广义相对论之后不久，就致力于以统一引力场和电磁场为目标的统一场论。为此奋斗了终生，始终未获成功，原因是除了电磁作用和引力作用之外，还存在微观领域十分重要的弱作用和强作用，而对于短程的弱作用和强作用当时认识还很少。爱因斯坦建立统一场论的思想鼓舞着物理学家们继续努力探索。20世纪60年代末70年代初建立电弱统一理论，理论的预言得到可靠的实验支持，是统一理论的新的里程碑。物理学家们试图建立将弱作用、电磁作用和强作用统一起来的大统一理论，以及建立包括引力作用在内把四种基本相互作用都统一起来的统一场论。目前大统一理论的预言还未被实验证实，进一步的统一场论还只是初步尝试，距离爱因斯坦的宏大设想还相当远。 |
