| 陨石坑 meteorite crater 陨石体高速撞击地表或其他天体表面所形成的坑穴。又称陨石冲击坑。在月球、水星、火星上，陨石坑是很普遍的现象。大的陨石坑又称环形山。地球上所发现的陨石坑比较稀少，这是由于侵蚀作用以及古老地貌被较年轻沉积物充填，使古老陨石坑不易辨认或已消失，如加拿大地盾上的陨石坑。地球上已被确认的大陨石坑中，以美国的亚利桑那梅蒂尔坑（过去曾称坎扬迪亚布罗坑）最有名。 坑的直径约1240米，深170多米，坑的周围比附近地面高出约40米。根据考察，这一陨石坑是2万年前，由一直径约60米、 重约10万吨的陨石体以约20千米／秒的速度撞击地面形成的，地球上最大的陨石坑是俄罗斯西伯利亚的波皮盖坑，直径约100千米。
