| 箭石 belemnitid 已绝灭的海生动物，属软体动物门头足纲鞘形亚纲乌贼目箭石亚目。因有一个箭头状的鞘而得名。从早石炭世出现，侏罗纪至早白垩世达到极盛，白垩纪末绝大多数绝灭，仅有少量延续到古新世。它是海相侏罗纪和白垩纪地层中的重要化石。 箭石与现代的乌贼类比较相似，但内壳远比乌贼的内壳发育。其内壳主要由鞘、闭锥和前甲3 部分构成。鞘最容易保存为化石；箭石个体大小变化很大，一般鞘长4～12厘米，身体总长一般为24～90厘米，最长可达4米多 ，箭石主要生活在大陆架海区，推测以自由游泳或漂浮为主，捕食小鱼和甲壳类。分布十分广泛。箭石除用于确定地层时代外，还可测定当时水温，对确定古气候及大陆漂移提供资料。 |
