又称“适应性疾病”。机体长期在外源性应激源刺激作用下产生的各种疾病。通常在应激源作用下，机体释放各种肾上腺激素，使机体产生与之适应的顺应行为。若长期处于应激状态时，机体持续释放的机制失灵，甚至出现病理结果，则可产生各种疾病。常见的与应激有关的疾病有原发性高血压、冠心病、溃疡病、偏头痛、糖尿病、支气管哮喘、神经性厌食等。应激能否引起疾病与个体生物学特性(如遗传素质等），应激源的性质、强度、持续时间，有无突发性、个体心理、个性特点等多种因素有关。保持良好的身心健康是预防和治疗此类疾病关键的一环。
