永嘉县辖镇。1949年为岩坦乡，1958年称岩坦管理区，1961年改建公社，1984年复设乡，1985年改置镇。
位于县境北部，楠溪江上游，楠溪江水利枢纽工程（拟建）库区中心。面积61.9平方公里，人口1.2万。辖坦街居委会和岩坦、坦一、屿北、东岙、闪坑、源头、岩门、蛙蟆垄、龙园、叶坑、大岭、西塘、三面山、庙下等14个村委会。
镇政府驻地岩坦村，以所在地戴氏宗祠前有一片平坦岩石而得名。屿北村在革命战争时期，曾是中共瓯北县委驻地，打响了浙南武装起义第一枪。
现有柏油公路接仙（居）清（水埠）路，41省线（在建）南北贯穿全镇。镇内基础设施完善：通程控电话，建有中国移动、中国联通移动电话基站；建有35千伏变电所；建有一千个座位的影剧院等。
主产：蕃薯、马铃薯、玉米等粮食作物；柑橘、红柿、板栗、杨梅、黑李、西瓜、盆菜等经济作物。特产：索面（麦粉制作）、金粉夹（蕃薯粉制作）。效益农业发达，岩坦绿源农业有限公司为全镇及周边区域农民提供资金、技术、信息、销售等服务。
