Here we report that a fossilized wood,collected from the intertidal zone of Zhujiajian Island,Zhejiang Province,China,has a radiocarbon age of 5 600 cal yr B P,which indicates that it is undergoing the fossilization process and probably the youngest fossilized wood ever found to date.

朱家尖岛北离普陀山岛2.5公里，西与著名渔港沈家门隔海相望约2公里，面积为72平方公里。
朱家尖岛，属丘陵和海积平原地貌，中部和西北部平原沃野；东南部海岸曲折，山势挺拔，礁石岬角众多，金沙广布，奇岩突兀，绿林萦绕，岛礁错嵯，蓝天碧海相映，具有集海、沙、石、林、洞于一体的山海自然风光。著名风景区有五连沙景区、白山景区、乌石塘景区、情人岛。朱家尖与普陀山一起被列为国家级风景名胜区，是“普陀旅游金三角”核心区域的组成部分，与普陀山构成一“静”一“动”的互补格局，被列为舟山旅游开发的重点。现“海上公园”度假区初具规模，开辟了海上摩托艇、沙滩奔马、海滨野营、海水游泳、海滩垂钓等特色休闲项目。
岛上建有“普陀山民航机场”，与舟山本岛间的跨海大桥建成后，朱家尖岛成为“普陀旅游金三角”的海、陆、空交通枢纽
