竹叶青也是武夷山比较常见的毒蛇。它的身体是绿色的,不仔细辨认会与无毒的翠青蛇相混起来,但是它的尾巴焦黄,这正是与翠青蛇相区别的地方。因为它的尾巴似火燎焦,所以当地人叫它「焦尾仔」或「火烧尾」的青竹蛇。竹叶青有扑火和聚居习性。昼夜活动,多在夜间寻食。竹叶青喜欢上树,常缠绕在溪边的灌木丛或小乔木上,会主动攻击人。它营卵胎生,会从泄殖孔生出小蛇来。(源自:中国林业网)
