补充资料：莘口自然保护区
福建省三明市莘口乡境内沙溪右岸的保护区。1964年封禁，1980年建立。作为探索森林发生和演变规律的科学研究基地，现由福建林学院管理。面积1120公顷。其中青钩栲纯林933多公顷。米槠纯林180余公顷。木材蓄积量共21.8万立方米。青钩栲系常绿乔木，树干圆满挺直，材质坚硬，耐腐性强，是船舶、桥梁、家具的优良用材。果实富含淀粉,可作粮食。树皮和壳含单宁,可提取栲胶。树型美观，寿命长，是良好的观赏树种。中国南方各省均有零星分布，但近千公顷的大面积纯林仅见于莘品。保护区内尚有其他林木100余科600多种。林内有黑熊、果子狸等数十种野生动物和白鹇、长尾雉等鸟类。
