三级卵泡是生长卵泡发育的最后阶段,由次级卵泡发育而来。此时的卵母细胞开始减数分裂,卵泡腔内液体增多,卵泡腔体积迅速增大。以至在卵巢表面形成一个明显的囊状隆起。周边的颗粒细胞也发生明显的变化,由于卵泡腔的扩大使周边细胞变薄,卵丘在卵泡壁上附着面积缩小,放射状排列的颗粒细胞成薄棒状,使放射状更明显。此阶段卵泡进一步发展即为排卵过程,卵泡破裂及卵丘与卵母细胞伴随卵泡液迅速流出进入腹腔。
