Based on TM image interpretation and field observations,this paper describes the geomorphological features of the deeply incised Daduhe and Anninghe River valleys in the Panxi region and analyses the late Cenozoic tectonic deformation features of the Anninghe fault zone.

Surface rupture traces of several large paleoearthquakes are found along the Xiaoxiangling Mountain segment of the Anninghe fault zone.

Based on the anisotropic elastic theory of rock mass,the X ray method is adopted to measure the 3 D macro residual principal stresses as well as distribution of the maximum horizontal and vertical shear stresses with depth in rock mass from 9 measuring boreholes in Anninghe fault zone.

The Anninghe fault is one of the significant earthquake-generating fault zones in the Southwest China.

The late quaternary Anninghe fault consits of more than 20 secondary faults.
