晚更新世末次冰期的结束时期。约从距今15000年（或14000年）前至10000 年前。北半球大陆冰盖迅速消退，世界海平面开始回升，植被带逐渐向高纬度方向推移。以一系列气候波动向全新世

（冰后期）过渡。大冰盖在总退却中仍出现2～3次小规模前进，反映了气候转暖过程中的几次冷暖交替。根据冰川沉积特征及孢粉分析结果，在北欧划分出3次寒冷期（冰段）和两次温暖期（间冰段）。北美劳伦泰德大冰盖在退却过程中也有类似的波动性。以双溪（two creeks）“森林层”为代表的温暖间冰段，出现在距今12000～11000年前，与欧洲阿尔路德间冰段相当。其后在距今11000～10500年前的瓦尔德斯（valders）冰段，冰川有所前进，使前一时期生长的由云杉、松、赤杨组成的森林消失。这个寒冷期的结束便进入了全新世。
