By the investigation and research on the variable velocity mapping technology and theory, combining with the progressive exploration practice of Yan Muxi area as well as the practical geologic and structure features of this area, two methods of progressive variable velocity mapping suitable for the local region were found: well average velocity and secondary error analysis.
