描述DracaenaVand.exL.龙血树属，龙舌兰科，150种，分布于东半球热带地区，我国有龙血树D.angustifoliaRoxb.等5种，产云南、海南和台湾，本属植物有些种类的木质部受伤后分泌出的树脂，可提取中药“血竭”，为伤科要药。灌木或乔木状而有木质的茎，或无茎；叶扁平，薄革质或厚革质，常呈剑形；花两性，排成圆锥花序或穗状的总状花序或稠密的穗状花序，有小苞片；花被裂片6枚，下部合生成一明显的管；雄蕊6枚，花丝丝状，花药背着；子房上位，3室，每室有胚珠1颗；果为一浆果。
