国际濒危鸟类“中华秋沙鸭”2004年春在吉林省集安市境内的鸭绿江上出现且一直在此逗留，有4雄7雌共11只。
中华秋沙鸭是中国特有鸟类，属于雁形目鸭科，全球仅存1000只左右，是中国一级保护动物，已被列入国际濒危物种红皮书和国际鸟类保护委员会濒危鸟类名录。据文献记载，中华秋沙鸭是一种候鸟，在中国东北地区和俄罗斯的西伯利亚繁殖，在长江以南越冬。自英国人1864年从中国采到一个雄性幼鸭标本后，定名为“中华秋沙鸭”，世界各大自然博物馆都能为拥有一只此鸟标本而自豪。
