德格县玛尼干戈镇境内的雀儿山，属沙鲁里山脉北段，地势呈西北向东南走向。东北部属川西北高原的一部分，地貌为高原丘状地形，生态平面保存完整，高山湖泊众多；西南部属金沙峡谷地带，河谷深切，角峰峥嵘，森林茂密。 雀尔山5000米以上的高峰有100多座，新路海正上方绒峨扎峰为其最高峰，海拔6168米，终年积雪，是康北的第一高峰。举世闻名的川藏公路雀尔山垭口海拔5050米。 雀尔山山体为典型的冰川地貌，有大小冰川30余条，远隔数十里外，也能看到冰川的壮景，叹为观止。其山麓，有七处较大的高山湖泊，均分布在雀尔山东北面，为冰蚀湖。尤其是雀尔山东北面竹庆寺沟顶雀尔山山体，冰川十分发育，山脚、山腰冰川运动形成的冰蚀湖成群。
