叶蝉科昆虫的 1种。主要为害桑树。中国分布于中、南部地区。虫体连翅长3～4毫米，黄色或淡黄绿色，具有黄褐色斑纹。后足胫节上有两排短刺,前翅银白色,有许多暗褐色斑点和短条纹。两前翅合拢时，在中部合成一个大的暗褐色菱形斑纹，非常显著，因而得名。
菱纹叶蝉以卵越冬，卵产在桑树枝条的中上部皮层下。初龄若虫喜聚集在枝条新梢嫩芽或嫩叶上刺吸汁液，2龄后逐渐分散。在中国中部地区 1年发生4代。除本身为害外，还传播桑萎缩型病毒病。
