河南曲种。清光绪末年，河南洛阳一带演唱洛阳琴书的艺人与南阳的鼓儿词（又名"单大鼓"）艺人合伙演唱。他们结合以后，互相吸收融化，在洛阳琴书唱腔的基础上吸收了鼓儿词的曲调，废弃了老式扬琴和八角鼓等乐器，改以坠琴、三弦、四胡等伴奏，以书鼓、月牙钢板击节。由于曲调新颖动听,受到群众欢迎,逐渐流传到河南各地，并继续吸收了河南坠子、山东大鼓等演唱艺术，形成了一种新的大鼓书形式。主要唱腔有"平板"、"悲平板"、"小数板"、"五字垛"、"飞板"、"凤凰三点头"、"滚口白"等，而以"平板"为基本曲调。平板是包括起腔、落腔的一个严整的曲体，六句为一段落,长于叙述,腔调多为半说半唱。河洛大鼓板式灵活,除平板外,还有带伴奏的散板韵白，以及紧板、垛板，紧打慢唱的飞板等。有长于抒情、节奏平缓的曲调，也有适于表现高昂激越情绪的曲调。著名艺人张天培吸收河南坠子唱腔、唱法创造的"天培调"具有独特风格。传统曲目多取材历史故事，长篇有《双鞭记》、《温凉盏》等；中篇有《双锁柜》、《鸾凤配》等；短篇唱段有《取长沙》、《截江》、《打关西》等。反映现实生活的曲目有《焦裕禄风雪探茅屋》、《巧摆地雷阵》等。
