I澳门货币汇兑及监理署】负责澳门货币及汇兑监理的金融管理机构。其基本职责是:(l)辅助总督制定及施行货币、金融、外汇和保险等政策;(2)规范和监管本地区货币、金融、外汇和保险市场活动;(3)确保本地区货币对外的可兑换性;(4)执行中央贮备库的职能;(5)维持本地区金融体系的稳定。澳门货币汇兑及监理署下设行政委员会由3名至5名成员组成，负责监管日常的工作，并设有一个由3名成员组成的监察委员会，以及一个由监理署行政委员、银行和保险业代表和两家发钞银行(大西洋银行、中国银行)所组成的咨询委员会，就澳门的金融政策提出建议。行政委员会下设有银行监理处、保险监理处以及货币汇兑处三大部门，负责监管澳门金融体系的整体运作。该署现有职员120多人，其高级管理人员大部分来自葡萄牙中央银行，但澳门货币汇兑及监理署与葡中央银行没有直接的联系，它在澳门总督领导下独立行使金融监管的权力。
