中国热带作物科学技术工作者的学术性群众团体，中国科学技术协会成员。会址在海南省儋县。其基本任务是团结广大热带作物科学技术工作者，组织和开展各种学术交流活动；普及热带作物科学技术知识，为繁荣中国和南亚热带地区的经济和科技事业作贡献。1962年着手筹备；1978年12月正式成立，同时召开第一届全国会员代表大会，梁文墀当选理事长。现任理事长黄宗道。学会下设科学普及工作委员会，热带作物机械协会，以及剑麻、热带作物产品加工、植物保护、割胶与生理等专业学术委员会。广东、广西、云南、海南、福建等省、自治区设有分会。该会除组织进行科学考察、召开综合性学术会议等活动外，还主办《热带作物学报》和《热作科技报》，并出版科普书籍。
