当妊娠时,由于血液中FSH的增加,垂体前叶内妊娠细胞的增长,使垂体前叶增大很多。于妊娠第5个月开始显著,分娩时静脉充血极为明显。产后妊娠细胞的退化与FSH的消失成正比,垂体处的充血也消退。如产后发生大量失血,血循环中的加压素增多,致使此时已呈衰退状态的垂体前叶地区很容易形成血栓。若在出血时用麦角素,可能会引起广泛的垂体前叶缺血性梗死。
