Based on the study of lithostratigraphy, organic fossils and stratigraphic ages and the regional stratigraphic correlation, this bed is assigned to the Queershan Group, and belongs to the Lower Devonian chronostratigraphically.
在《红宝石幅》区域地质调查过程中,发现在甘肃北山双沟山地区分布着一套灰绿色中性、中酸性火山熔岩及其凝灰岩地层,通过岩石地层、生物化石及地层年代等方面的研究,经区域地层对比划归雀儿山群,形成时代确定为早泥盆世。

Queershan granitoids, located in the most north of Yidun island arc belt, western Sichuan province consist chiefly of granodiorites distributing in the margin of the plutonic intrusion or as enclaves, porphyry-like granites as main lithology and later pegmatic and aplitic ganites as veins.
位于川西义敦岛弧北端的雀儿山花岗岩体主要由岩体边部或者作为包体的花岗闪长岩、主体似斑状花岗岩和较晚的呈条带状或者脉状伟晶质、细晶质花岗岩组成。

四川省著名高山。位于沙鲁里山北段的甘孜、德格之间。北西绵延百余公里。原系古夷平面上的残余山，后随青藏高原上升而成为高耸于高原面上的巨大山体，山峰高度逾5500米，其中超过6000米的山峰有3座,故当地有"爬上雀儿山，鞭予打着天"之说。山麓海拔3500～3800米，相对高差约1000～2000米。山体由花岗岩侵入体构成。经流水、冰川等作用后，石峰嶙峋，山脊呈锯齿状。有大小冰川30余条,分布面积达80平方公里,仅次于贡嘎山。现代雪线分布于海拔5100～5200米，是中国雪害严重地区之一。雀儿山多古冰川地貌，山麓则多重力堆积物。东麓的新路海系冰川湖，海拔4148米。南北长约3公里，东西宽1公里，为四川省境高海拔湖泊之一，风景绝佳，有"西天瑶池"之称。雀儿山川藏公路垭口海拔4889米，是四川最高的公路垭口，川藏公路上著名险关。
