虎踞克兰河东岸的将军山，是新疆阿勒泰的象征与骄傲，主峰南北走向，高程1360余米，纵横十八平方公里，峰恋起伏，沟壑蜜布，真象一个顶天立地的将军守护着阿勒泰着片美丽神奇的土地。登上山顶，一览这西域的大好河山，虽没有“登泰山而小天下”的豪情涌来，但也能令人视野顿开，心旷神怡。南望远处是苍莽的额尔齐斯和克兰河谷；近处是广阔富饶的田野和牧场；北望是阿尔泰山岚叠翠，雪线松林；东望是神秘的汗德尕特，冬季这里又是天然的高山滑雪训练基地。
将军山气势雄威，与隔河相望的骆驼山两山对峙，日夜守卫着边城的幸福和宁静。
将军山滑雪场在2003年冬季已投入使用,新建后的将军山旅游滑雪场,日接待量可达300人。设有散台和包厢，且可同时容纳40人就餐的饮食点，餐饮的种类主要以民俗风味及快餐形式为主。新建成190平方米的踩板房，内有换鞋间、休息室、洗手间及两间雪板雪鞋等装备存储室等。在原有滑雪道的基础上，另又开辟了一条适合大众及初学者及儿童的雪道，且根据地势又开辟了新的滑轮胎场所。
同时滑雪场还配备有教练员及安全员，确保了各位游客的人身安全，两条索道已全部完工，并正常运转，一次就可运送游客50人。根据地势的陡峭程度、面积及车型，结合冬季路滑的情况，分别在山下、山腰及山上建有三个停车场，可同时停放50辆车，同时在滑雪场内还完备了垃圾箱、指示牌等基础设施。
