This active fault is the stretch of the east branch fault(F5) of the Tangshan faulted zone which was triggered tectonics of the Tangshan earthquake in 1976.
得出地表地裂缝生成的主要原因是其地下深处可能存在隐伏活动断裂的活动(蠕动),该活动断裂为1976年唐山大地震发震构造—唐山断裂带东支唐山矿F5断层之延伸,而小煤矿采空塌陷加剧了地裂缝的发展,是诱因。

米山断裂是一多期变形的断裂。

米山断裂是─多期变形断裂,早期以韧性变形为主,后期以脆性变形为主,断裂变形具有准对称性,西盘变形强度大于东盘。
