法师子仿。吴兴人。赐号普照。早依净觉。嵩明教据禅经作定祖图。以付法藏斥为可焚。师作祖说以救之。又三年。嵩知禅经有不通。辄云传写有误。师复作止讹以折之。其略有曰。契嵩。立二十八祖。妄据禅经。荧惑天下。斥付法藏为谬书。此由唐智炬作宝林传。因禅经有九人。其第八名达摩多罗。第九名般若密多罗。故智炬见达摩两字语音相近。遂改为达磨。而增菩提二字移居于般若多罗之后。又取他处二名婆舍斯多不如密多以继二十四人。总之为二十八。炬妄陈于前。嵩缪附于后。渎乱正教瑕玷禅宗。余尝面折之。而嵩莫知愧。又据僧祐三藏记传律祖承五十三人。最后名达摩多罗。而智炬取为梁朝达磨。殊不知僧祐所记。乃载小乘弘律之人。炬嵩既尊禅为大乘。何得反用小乘律人为之祖耶。况禅经且无二十八祖之名。与三藏记并明声闻小乘禅耳。炬嵩既无教眼。才见禅字认为己宗。是则反贩梁朝达磨。但传小乘禅法厚诬先圣其过非小
