| 邮局 post office 办理邮政业务的机构的通称。它与邮路共同组成邮政网路，实施邮件的传递。邮局的分布与数量要考虑公众的方便，也要考虑经济合理。邮局通常分为若干等级，以便于管理。中国过去曾按营业额、业务量和功能，将邮局分为一、二、三等，每等再分甲、乙两级；后又增列四等局，其下不再分级。中国人民邮政改按行政区划设置邮政局或邮电局，其下再设分支机构和代办机构。邮政局是设在省会、自治区首府、直辖市及大城市的具有枢纽性质的邮局。邮电局设在中小城市和县政府所在地，兼办邮政和电信两方面的业务。受它们领导的分支机构是在其管辖范围内的城乡各地设置的邮电支局、邮电所和邮政代办所、邮票代售处等。 随着邮件量的增长，有些国家成立了邮件处理中心局，或分别设立包裹处理中心局和函件处理中心局，充分应用邮政机械设备和自动化设备，提高邮件的处理效率。中国于70年代开始建设邮件处理中心局。 |
