template theory of pattern recognition
模式识别模板理论(template theory ofpattern recognition)这一理论认为，模式是一个整体的、不可分割的实体。对应于外界的模式，人脑中也有各种各样的模板，它是外界模式的某种缩小了的拷贝，它们之间存在着一对一的对应关系。模式识别就是把输入的刺激与人脑中己经存储的模板相匹配的过程。例如，相对于外文字母A，人脑中也有一个模板“A”，它们之间的匹配程度，就是对字母识别的程度。模板理论适用于机器识别模式的个别场合，但不适合于解释人类识别模式的基本过程。模板理论要求外界的刺激与头脑中的模板具有相同的位置、方向和大小，随着外界图形的变异，如字母的书写体不同，观察的距离不同，等等，模板就不能与刺激完全匹配，识别就不能完成。这和人类识别模式的实际情形是不符合的。人可以识别不同手写体的文字，可以识别在不同角度观察时所看到的同一图形但是，也有研究发现，在模式识别的感觉存储阶段，模板理论可能是成饮的，感觉存储的内容可能是刺激的模板。 (谭立海撰彭瑞龄审)
