The decline of book engraving industry in Huizhou in the late Qing Dynasty was manifested in the following 3 aspects: the fall of government book engraving in Huizhou,the wane of personal book engraving in Huizhou and the decay of personal book engraving in places outside Huizhou.

This thesis is main to discuss the relationship between Huizhou merchants and the blossom of book carving industry of Huizhou during Ming and Qing Dynasties.

According to the records in the historical materials and the statistical data,this paper introduces the losses of Chinese book cause in the period of the War of Resistance against Japan from two aspects of Japanese troops unbridled plunder and the primary estimation of the losses of Chinese books.

This held important positions in the book cause history of China .
