什么武器能在没有鲜血和伤痛的温和面纱下进行残酷的战争？只有"人种炸弹"。 "人种炸弹"属于基因武器，是一种处于探索阶段的生物武器。它利用重组脱氧核糖核酸（ｄｎａ）技术来改变非致病微生物的遗传物质，以形成某种致病菌，并让该致病菌因人体特征上的差异，选择对特定遗传型的人体产生致病作用，以达到对特定人员（如某个家族、某个民族、某种肤色人种等）进行杀伤的目的。
"人种炸弹"的提法缘于当今的以色列军方。伊拉克在海湾战争中以"飞毛腿"导弹攻击以色列，使以色列与伊拉克之间的种族敌对情绪日益加深，因此，为了对付萨达姆，以色列军方决定不惜一切代价加紧研制一种专门的武器，这就是"人种炸弹"。
研制"人种炸弹"的目的，就是使其能识别不同人种之间的差别，以便有选择地发挥杀伤力，比如能识别犹太人与阿伯人的基因，并且只对阿拉伯人具有杀伤力，这样，一旦以色列释放"人种炸弹"，在一定区域内，凡是具有阿拉伯人基因的人就会感染致病菌。同理，可以根据需要研制出识别种族基因、性别基因、血型基因等的"人种炸弹"。
