性质：不含或含极微量游离氧和其他强氧化剂，而且富含大量有机残体和甲烷、氢等还原性物质的环境。是地表氧化还原环境类型之一。包括酸性条件下氧化还原电位(Eh)<0.5V，碱性条件下Eh<0.15V的水环境和Eh<0.3V经常淹水的土壤环境。可分为不含和含有硫化氢两种类型的还原环境。前者环境中的铁、锰以低价存在，迁移能力较强；Eh很低时，钒、铜等亦可还原成难溶性化合物，迁移能力较弱，潮湿热带、冻土带、草原带的沼泽属此类型；后者有利于形成难溶性金属硫化物，降低金属的迁移能力，干旱区的盐湖、某些地区深层地下水和底泥等均属此种类型。
