轴线规则 是镜头调度的一般规则。是指在用分切镜头表现一场戏时，机位的变化要在轴线的一侧进行调度和安排。比如，拍甲乙二人对话交流，分切成若干镜头1、2、3位于关系轴线一侧，在画面中，甲在画左，乙在画右，都是正确的。镜头4越过了关系轴线，甲跑到画右，乙跑到左去了。不能和镜头1、2、3衔接，接上就会犯方向错误。造成视觉混乱。拍两人对话，都要设在关系轴线的一侧设定角度拍摄。（见图）
